Weekly Newsletter
Hawk Band
Hi all,
I hope this newsletter finds you happy and healthy. This past weekend we had such a great turnout with all of our new incoming freshmen. The gym was a packed house and we had an excellent turnout registering all of the new students and parents. Thank you to all of the band parents that helped make registration a huge success. New freshman parents, welcome to your first of many newsletters. I will send these every weekend and it will include a ton of information (especially in the fall). I will try and keep the newsletters short and concise with all the information on the upcoming events and the week at a glance. Please read through each of these newsletters carefully and if there any questions you may have that are not answered by reading through the newsletter, please email me directly.
Current HS Parents, this week will be a very busy week for all students. We will have an after school rehearsal on Tuesday to review/ prepare for the festival and the parade. Wednesday will be very similar to a football game. We will block the kids from 8th period to do a quick review of the festival then we will feed the students. Once the buses arrive, we will depart for Alamo Stadium to do a combined rehearsal with 29 other bands from around San Antonio.
Thursday we will block the students from 4th period thru the end of the day. All students will go to 4th period lunch (STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO GO OFF CAMPUS FOR LUNCH) so prepare accordingly. We will load the box truck and depart at 1:30pm to avoid traffic and buses showing up late. The current plan is to hang out at a nearby park before feeding the kids, getting into uniform, and beginning the band festival. Students, you MUST have your water jugs filled with water, your marching shoes, and your music/ flip folder for Thursday.
Friday, will be the battle of flowers parade. Band hall will open at 7:45am (slight adjustment from last week) and we will need to eat/ get into uniform and depart by 8:45am. Students, you will once again need your water jug filled prior to arriving to school and you MUST have your compression shirt for this event. We will not be wearing the long sleeve for the parade but the compression shirt instead. If you forget your compression shirt for this day, we will be forced to wear the long sleeve so the students look uniform. I would prefer the students stay cool during the parade so locate those compression shirts now.
Lastly, if you did not purchase your fiesta medal or your band fiesta shirt, we will have a table set up Tuesday at 6pm (during practice) to get your last minute fiesta attire. Shirts are $25 and fiesta medals are $12.
