ABOUT THE GUARD!
Color Guard is a year round program that competes as the Color Guard unit associated with the Harlan Marching Band during the fall competitive season and football games, then transforms to the Winter Guard in the Spring. An Harlan High School student can join the Color Guard or Winter Guard without prior experience. A willingness to learn is required. Students who are not already enrolled in a band class must be enrolled in Color Guard as a class, which is 8th period. If an instrumentalist member of the Harlan Band would like to do Color Guard or Winter Guard they can do so by still being enrolled in their band class if they do not have room in their schedule to add the Color Guard class.
Winter Guard rehearsal schedules outside of the school day will take place on days determined by facility and faculty availability and begin after marching band season has concluded. These will carry on through the competitive Winter Guard season. The performance schedule for Winter Guard is not set until late November.
Our wonderful Color Guard instructors are Ms. Randy Miles, and Guard Technician Cindy Tames! Learn more about them below:
