Paul Millette - Front Ensemble
Masters in Percussion Performance - Indiana University Bachelors in Percussion Performance - University of North Dakota Paul Millette (b.1992) is a percussionist, composer, and educator based in San Antonio, Texas. He recently served as the percussionist with the King’s Brass, a touring brass ensemble that performs over 150 concerts a year throughout the United States. As an educator he has presented clinics and masterclasses in North Dakota, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Iowa. An active composer, Millette’s music is published through C. Alan and Tapspace Publications. His music has been performed by ensembles such as the Patterns Quartet, Indiana University Percussion Ensemble, University of North Dakota String Quartet, Greater Grand Forks Community Orchestra, Troy University Percussion Ensemble, and was recently featured on Prairie Public Broadcasting’s Prairie Musicians . He received his master of music degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and his undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota. Millette has studied percussion with Mike Blake, Kevin Bobo, Michael Spiro, and John Tafoya. |
Joshua Alvarez - Marching Tech
Undergraduate: Music Education - University of Texas at San Antonio Joshua Alvarez was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas where he attended Mary Carroll High School. This fall he will begin his third year of his Music Education career at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Joshua's primary instrument is saxophone where he studies under Dr. Rami El-Farrah. Joshua is a part of the UTSA Wind Ensemble, UTSA Saxophone Ensemble and UTSA Jazz Band. He was a part of the UTSA Spirit of San Antonio for two years and was also on Saxophone Music Staff. Along with playing saxophone, Joshua has been an active member with the UTSA Saxophone Association where he served as the Treasurer and Nu Eta Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia where he served as the Alumni Relations Officer and is currently the Vice President. He has grown up loving music because of the teachers he has been blessed with, and his hope for this year is to have the same influence on the students here at Harlan. Matt Moreno - Marching Tech
Undergraduate: Music Education - University of Texas at San Antonio Matt Moreno is a San Antonio native, where he attended Louis D. Brandeis High School and Graduated in 2016. Matt is an Undergraduate Music Education Major at The University of Texas at San Antonio where he is entering his 4th year as a Music Major. Matt is primarily a Euphonium player, studying under Gary Poffenbarger, and has been a part of the UTSA Wind Ensemble for 2 year and has played in “El Boom Squad,” the Tuba-Euphonium ensemble at UTSA, for four years and has marched in The Spirit of San Antonio for 2 years. Matt is currently serving Phi Mu Alpha, Nu Eta chapter’s Fraternity Education Officer and Collegiate Province Representative for the Fraternity’s 9th Province. Music has always been the thing that Matt enjoys most about college and life. Matt is excited to go into his 3rd year working with the Hawk band! |
Jessica Martinez - Marching Tech
Undergraduate: Music Education - Texas State University Jessica Martinez was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and is currently majoring in Music Studies at Texas State University. The clarinet is her primary instrument and studies clarinet under Dr. Vanguel Tangarov. At Texas State, Jessica participates and performs with the Texas State Clarinet Choir. She was fortunate enough to perform with the clarinet choir at both TMEA 2019 and Clarinet Fiesta 2019. Jessica has also performed with the Symphonic Winds and Bobcat Marching Band, both under the direction of Dr. Kyle Glaser. Jessica is an active member in the Theta Alpha chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi at Texas State University. In Kappa Kappa Psi, she is currently the secretary and helps maintain strong connections with other musical organizations at Texas State, other chapters of Kappa Kappa Psi, and the alumni of the Theta Alpha chapter. She has participated in many service projects and volunteered at music events. Music has always been a major part of her life and her main goal is to help others appreciate music and all the ways it can help one grow. She is extremely excited to work with the students and staff at Harlan! |
