Weekly Newsletter
Hawk Band
Hi all,
I hope this email finds you all healthy and well. Congratulations to the Harlan Band for getting through a very busy week. The students received 2nd place at the Battle of Bands Thursday evening in the 6A category. We are so proud of the students and how they played and handled themselves that day. I was able to hear a clip of the group and they sounded great. The parade was also a huge success. The weather cooperated and was cool enough to not overheat the students. I got a chance to see a clip of the parade as well and the kids looked and sounded great on tv. The staff and I are very excited about the future of the marching program.
There are only 28 days of school left but there are still many things that need to be done before we let out for the summer. Students, you will receive your audition music on Monday. Once you receive this, get to practicing. The music is playable but you will need to spend some time getting through the notes, rhythms, and dynamics. We will also be going through the leadership process for next year. If you are interested in being a future leader, pick up the packet asap from the office.
Lastly, we will be having all of our spring concerts this month. Percussion will be having their solo recitals and two separate percussion concerts. If you have not seen the percussion concerts in the past, come out and support the students. It is a fun and entertaining time for the audience. Our band spring concert will also be coming up this month. We will hand out awards, hear from the jazz band, watch our colorguard, and listen to what the bands have been working on since UIL.

Roadie Help
Our awesome roadies are in need of any parents that have experience with welding, cabinetry, or a 3D printer. We will be outfitting the inside of the newly purchased 18 wheeler and will need some extra hands. As someone that has experienced this process before, I can safely say that this is a memorable experience getting to work with your hands and build something that will last for years to come. Please contact Grant at grantlawrence@sbcglobal.net if you have any questions.
